Terms of Attachment

Last updated: August 2026

These terms govern clinical rotations, administrative attachments, and internships undertaken at St. Paul's Mission Hospital (SPMH) under the Academics & Internships program.

1. Eligibility

Applicants must be currently enrolled at a recognized academic institution and submit an attachment request through the official application form, sponsored or confirmed by their home institution where required.

2. Application & Placement

  • Submitting an application does not guarantee placement. Attachments are subject to departmental capacity and HR approval.
  • Proposed start and end dates are requests; SPMH will confirm final dates based on departmental scheduling.
  • Applicants will receive a unique reference code to track their application status.

3. Conduct & Professional Standards

Attachees are expected to adhere to SPMH's professional conduct standards, dress code, and departmental protocols at all times. Attachees must follow the direction of their assigned clinical or administrative preceptor and comply with all applicable hospital policies.

4. Confidentiality

Attachees will have access to sensitive patient and institutional information in the course of their placement. Strict confidentiality must be maintained at all times, in line with applicable patient privacy and data protection obligations. Any breach of confidentiality may result in immediate termination of the attachment.

5. Scope of Supervision

Clinical rotations are conducted under the direct supervision of certified SPMH clinical preceptors. Attachees may not perform any clinical procedure beyond their training level or without direct supervision.

6. Liability

Attachees participate in the program at their own risk. SPMH expects sponsoring institutions to maintain appropriate student insurance coverage for the duration of the attachment period.

7. Termination of Attachment

SPMH reserves the right to end an attachment early in cases of misconduct, breach of confidentiality, or failure to meet professional standards, with notice to the attachee's home institution where applicable.

8. Institutional Partnerships

Partnership inquiries submitted by academic institutions are reviewed by SPMH Administration and may lead to a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) governing the terms of an ongoing attachment pipeline.

This is a general institutional template. It should be reviewed by a qualified legal professional before being treated as a binding agreement.
