Frequently Asked Questions

Answers for students applying for an attachment and institutions exploring a partnership with SPMH. Can't find what you're looking for? Email hr@spmh.co.ke .

Applying

No. Submitting an attachment application through this site is free. If any department-specific costs apply (for example, materials for a specialized rotation), HR will explain these directly during the review process — never as a condition of applying.
Most institutions require one. You can describe your institutional requirements in the cover letter field of the application form, and HR will follow up if a formal letter is still needed before your attachment is confirmed.
You can request a department or rotation type on the application form. Final placement depends on departmental capacity and the scope of your course requirements, and will be confirmed by HR.
Review times vary by department and season. You can check your application status at any time using your reference code on the Applicant Status Tracker.

During Your Attachment

Clinical and administrative attachments are primarily for training and academic credit. Any stipend arrangements, where applicable, are confirmed directly with HR before your start date rather than assumed from this page.
Accommodation is not guaranteed as part of the attachment. If you need help identifying nearby housing options, mention this in your cover letter and HR can advise based on what's typically available for students in the area.
Contact HR as early as possible. Start and end dates submitted on the form are requests, not confirmed bookings, so changes are easiest to accommodate before a placement is finalized.
Yes — departments issue a completion letter or certificate at the end of a successfully completed attachment, which you can use for your institution's records.

Confidentiality & Conduct

Yes. Application and inquiry data is stored securely and is only accessible to authorized HR and Administration staff. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Attachees are held to the same patient confidentiality standards as SPMH staff. This is a condition of every clinical or administrative placement — see our Terms of Attachment for details.

Institutions & Research Partnerships

Yes. We work with local, regional, and international institutions. Select the appropriate scope on the Institutional Partnership Inquiry form and describe your goals — including any research or exchange interests.
Submit an Institutional Partnership Inquiry and select "Formal MOU / Long-Term Partnership" as the inquiry type. Our administration team will reach out to discuss scope, timelines, and next steps.
Yes — research collaboration, particularly in community and rural health, is one of the partnership pathways we are actively growing under our current institutional roadmap. Describe your research interest in the inquiry form and our team will follow up.
Reach out directly to the SPMH Human Resources Directorate for any existing or in-progress partnership matters.
